At the end of a full day of play the judges seem to have to recheck their results so as to make sure they were right! Existing Champion Matthew Rowe 1st Wellington retained his first place in the Scout Chess. 2nd place went to Paul Westcott 1st Wellington. The Group also achieved 4th place Richard Langston-Bishop and 5th place Gregory Altria at Scout Chess.

1st Wellington also got the Cubs Chess 1st (Daniel Westcott) and 2nd (Edward Carson) places - thereby enabling the Group to take two trophies home.

As a result the 1st Wellington Scout Group now has to make plans to have their trophy case enlarged! The Groups Thanks go to the "Black Knight" for his Chess coaching.

Group Purchases Trailer
The Groups new trailer (without the mesh sides)

The group has now purchased a new Ifor Williams trailer after much hard work fundraising. The trailer, an 8ftx4ftx3ft double axle, is required to transport the group equipment to camps etc.

The Group would like to thank particularly the Royal Naval Association for their continuing proactive support for the Scout Group. The Association was the catalyst for our trailer appeal making a significant contribution; we also had support from Swallowfield, Done Bros., the Rockwell Green Whist Drive Group, the Beam Bridge Inn, the Guides and several townsfolk.
